How To Treat Tonsil Swelling In The Throat Back?

hi i was just wondering about the tonsil in the back of my throat. There appeared to be a purple vein that wasn't there before, but also yesterday i went to the doctor and she gave me anti biotics for my throat which was causing me quite discomfort in yawning and swallowing, but i was supposed to start the course straight away but got delayed and will be starting tomorrow when i get my medicine. I was just wondering if there was anything to worry about or is it just normal, also my throat does not hurt as muh as before but the yawning still does. Thank you

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
The swelling in the tonsil and the limited mouth opening can be because of the peritosillar abscess or pterygomandibular space infection. Nothing to be panic, you can take a course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin and metronidazole combination(if you are not allergic). Do warm saline gargling. Better to start the antibiotics immediately, otherwise the infection will spread to involve the adjacent tissues.
