How To Treat Vitiligo?

Okay. I have been suffering from Vitiligo for the past nine years. It s treatment required me to sit in the sun for half an hour everyday. After following that for seven years, I got dark, but couldn t completely treat Vitiligo. Now, I m using homeopathy medicine. I was skeptic at first, but it s working (slowly though). What should I do to treat Vitiligo faster? Also, how to remove the permanent tan I got over the years?

Hi,

Vitiligo is caused by lack of pigment called melanin in skin. In vitiligo, there are not enough working melanocytes to produce enough melanin in your skin. Vitiligo may result from autoimmune conditions like hyperthyroidism, Addison's disease, DM, melanoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, genetic factors etc. Treatment depends on its causes.

You should undergo some investigations like CBC, thyroid function test, RBS, S. cortisol, ACTH, biopsy from the affected skin area etc., to find out the underlying the causes which are responsible for your vitiligo and then treat them accordingly. In the meantime, you can use steroid cream on your affected skin to restore some pigment, sunscreen to avoid sunburn, Tacrolimus topical ointment on your affected skin.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
