How To Treat Weight Loss And Acid Reflux In An Alcoholic Having Hypothyroidism?
My mum is very ill but in denial about going to the GP. She is 46 years old and has a history of depression, increased stress levels & BP and hypothyroidism, along with excessive alcohol and cigarette consumption. She has lost a lot of weight recently, has little to no appetite therefore is extremely lethargic and now cannot walk up one flight of stairs without becoming dizzy and weak. She has increased anxiety and struggles with urgent bowel movements when leaving the house. She is pale and thin in appearance with a largely distended stomach (I have only just noticed this because she hides in baggy clothes), and suffers with nausea and acid reflux regularly. She has b12 deficiency but was never given treatment for this. She has become extremely deconditioned and every time I try to approach the subject with her, she gets agitated and will not accept that something is wrong.
If she is not willing to go to determine what may or may not be happening, she can go for a routine assessment. Persons go to the doctor for routine check ups. She may be due for one of these
You may also need to bring in another family member or friend to help you to convince her to go to an assessment.
I hope this helps
