How To Wean Off Arthrotec? Will It Have Any Side Effects?

Hello, my 78 year old mother has been experiencing gas, burping, diarrhea, difficulty in concentrating and other issues. In checking through her meds, I found she was on arthrotec, which lists many of her symptoms as possible side effects. Is is safe for her to stop cold turkey? (Realizing that the hip pain would likely return) how long does it typically take to leave the system? I am deeply concerned, as she already had TIAs and her short-term memory seems to have worsened significantly of late. Since starting this drug I am thinking. Thanks
