Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I doubt the state is taking 5 to 10% of babies. Maybe, they've done it before with minorities and poor people, but the state wasn't in so much debt back then and they could make the babies work to earn their keep. Because I doubt you can get the marijuana out of the babies system if they check the baby poop....which is already forming and has nowhere to go (meconium check).Right now marijuana is bad and there is serious evidence it affects brain development badly. Several regimes, especially the American Republicans, only exist because of their members' stupidity and alcohol or cigarettes are far far worse for baby and general health and there is not as good a
nausea medicine as marijuana so, it might become good and legal.
They will have you on a watch list and visit the house, like twice. There is very little you can do to get it out of the baby's stool. Stopping for 1 week gives you a chance to be negative but certainly does not guarantee it. If you were a multiple joint a day user prior to quitting it is probably UNLIKELY that you can get your urine to be clean in even a month. It pops up periodically from stores in the fat (and in the baby). Demonstration of not being on marijuana is probaby the best you can possibly do. This would involve going to a board certified addiction doctor and saying exactly what you said in the post.
Then, if there were court involvements, you would be well ahead of the game of demonstrating that you are fit. Also have a job, income, clean house free of drugs and guns and safety issues and having smoke detectors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
