How To Withdraw From Ativan?

I am recently trying to get off of Adivan after taking 1mg as a sleep aid for the last several years. I have chipped away at the pill for the last 2 weeks and am presently taking a little more than 1/2 a pill. I m still sleeping okay however am experiencing a lot of anxiety through the day, especially towards the evening. Any suggestions? I really don t want to get off off this drug if I can.

Since you have now taking about 0.5 mg of Ativan, and getting good sleep, you can in the next 10 days take 0.25 mg and then stop it altogether. The anxiety you are having in the day time can be markedly reduced by doing physical exercise in the mornings, meditation, cogitative therapy, counseling by a psychologist, remaining in a peaceful atmosphere. It would also be good if you could introspect and find out the cause of this anxiety and once the cause is known, corrective measures can be taken. Please do not take any sleeping pills or anti anxiety medication, as it is habit forming, and you will find it difficult to get off the drug.
