Can i stop taking clonazepam or do i need to gradually stop taking it, i m a 56M H/A at age 38 double By Pass at age 39. I work ever day never stopped. Anxiety started after cardo problems. I started taking .05mg 3 times a day about 5 years ago. Seems like now I can feel some pounding in my chest and PVCs. I have been checked out by heart doctors they say all is well. I just read about side effects of Clonazepam and it said it could cause a pounding and skipped beat feeling in chest. By the way I have had no problems since Bypasses. Im thankful for modern medicine. THANKS
Clonazepam has a high abuse liability. You consult a psychiatrist who would taper it down. You should not stop it suddenly. Don't be stressed as it is not good for your heart, you will be alright soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
