How To Withdraw From Elavil?

I am a seventy- five year old lady and have been prescribed Elavil 25 mg. tablet to take at bedtime.I began four nights ago and have felt dizzy, lighted headed , tired and sleepy since then, and this feeling continues throughout the day. I need to stop this medication .May I stop abruptly? I live alone and don t feel safe with these side effects. Thank You.k

Why you are taking Elavil you have not written here. Dizziness, sedation, lightheadedness and fatigue are very common with Elavil. Withdrawal depends upon the indication of Elavil. If you are taking it for depression then you taper the dose to 10 mg. Or if you are taking it for sleep induction or neural pain then you can stop it abruptly. Abrupt withdrawal will not cause any problem. If you could have written your problem in detail, I would have suggested you an alternative medicine. You can write later on.
