How To Withdraw From Lamotrigine?

I have taken Lamotrigine since 2009. I have never had a seizure, only a flushing sensation from .back of my neck, over my head to my forehead. Following hip replacement surgery, my prescription was not filled, inadvertently. I have had no issues and I d like to stop taking the lamotrigine if it s safe. The one issue I did have in 2009 was a bad EEG. Is it okay if I stop the meds or...?? Thank you, Sandy Russell

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This drug should not be stopped suddenly. Stopping an anti-seizure medication can cause you to have an increase in seizures. See a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rakesh Rai
