General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it can be stopped suddenly after 7 days for people who are on a prolonged course of steroids.

People with autoimmune diseases or severe asthma need to taper off because their bodies have gotten used to the external source of steroids. Short courses do not require tapering.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
