How To Withdraw From Tramadol While Suffering From Painful Frozen Shoulder?

Hello and thank you..I am a 69 year old woman who until seven months ago was healthy active and a non pill taker. O I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder seven months ago recently had a scapular release...still in pretty severe pain. I am taking 50 mg of Tramadol twice a day ( down from 4X per day right after surgery.) I also take 500 mg of Naproxen twice a day...my question is...can I take an extra strength Tylenol in between these two medications when the pain is pretty bad and not due for another Tramadol I for several hours? Trying to wean myself off Tramadol but pain is pretty severe...have never taken an opiate before and it reeks havoc on my system...constipatin has become an issue... Thank you cathwhitely

Hello,

I would advise you to switch over to Tylenol from Tramadol since it is causing side-effects and also it may cause dependency. You can take Tylenol in three divided doses and also continue with the naproxen. You should also undergo physiotherapy as it will help in faster recovery and also help in pain management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
