How Uncommon Is A Nerve Bending To The Side Intertwining Another?

I just had a root canal (the 2nd molar) a couple hours ago. My regular dentist sent me to a specialist because she could not numb the tooth while doing an overlay. The endodontist found that I had a nerve bending to the side that intertwined another and was hard to notice. He explained that every one was different but this was very atypical. Just wondering how uncommon it is?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your query in a human body there are many nerves and blood vessels which are found intertwined with each other and it is not an abnormal finding..

There are different nerves in the body which are responsible for providing sensations to different areas of body and all of them have a approximately fixed location in the body with a little deviation in every individual..

In different dental and medical procedures the anaesthesia and surgical procedures are carried out by taking these precise locations into consideration to prevent any complication or damage to nerves and blood vessels during the procedures..

As well as many neurological problem are correctly diagnosed with the knowledge of location of these nerves..

If there is any abnormal intertwining of the nerves which normally doesn't occur ,it can lead to change in their position in individuals and can lead to difficulty in diagnosing various medical conditions related to those nerves as well as there may be chance of damage to those nerves as their location is different than expected in surgical procedures if not observed before hand..

Various dental and medical anaesthesia are given by taking in consideration the precise location of nerves and if location of nerve is changed the anaesthesia wont work for the desired area of body.

In some conditions the fibres of the intertwined nerves may exchange with each other leading to abnormal activity of the nerve which it does not perform..

These can be few complications BUT many a times the intertwined nerves may not cause any problem too..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
