How Would My Doctor Determine If Any Of The Grafts Have Failed After Surgery?
Hi, my wife recently had a quadruple bypass surgery about 2 1/2 months ago. She has been doing fine, exercising at cardio rehab classes, eating right, and following her doctors orders. Lately she has been feeling tired and run down as she did prior to surgery. What are the signs or symptoms or how would her doctors determine in any of the grafts haved failed?
Dear Sir Thanks for writing to us. The symptoms of graft failure mostly mimic the symptoms prior to the bypass surgery. They may include chest pain, shortness of breath, fatiguability etc. The doctor can order a stress test or an angiogram to ascertain the status of grafts. Unfortunately, 10-20% venous grafts my close in one year. But this may not be your case. Please consult your cardiologist. Sincerely Sukhvinder
