Hypertension, Dry Cough. Taking Amloz And Olvance. Sufficient?
I am on regular medication of Hypertension medicine for about last 15 years. I am aged 53 Now.For Last 4 years I am taking Olvance 20.Before This I was taking Amloz. Now I am having nearly dry cough for about last 3 months.Could be due to Olvance? If yes, then what to do? If NO ,then what is next course of action suggested?
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, You are having High blood pressure and currently taking Olmesartan which belongs to ARB( Angiotensin receptor blocker) this group of drug is unlikely to cause dry cough as side effect, it is commonly caused by ACE inhibitor group.
You should visit your physician and get examined to find out any other cause of cough like infection or narrowing of airways.
If nothing is there a trial of withdrawal of this drug and use of another antihypertensive medication may be tried from different group. Hope this helps.
Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
