Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am suffering of high ALT and ggt levels. I also have high cholesterol which I worked to lower down during past few months by losing weight. My first test was in 2013 November and alt level was 103. After I lost 13 kg the alt level come down to 79.8. I need a doctor to advise me if this is a good progress or do I need to visit a doctor?
It seems you have fatty liver which is nothing but deposition of fat in liver leading to liver damage and elevated ALT and other enzymes. The cause could unhealthy dietary habits and alcohol intake. U r definitely doing well, but you should also get some test done like serum lipid profile, blood sugars, blood pressure checked since these are associated conditions. You should also get USG abdomen done to confirm diagnosis and viral markers like HBsAg and Anti HCV to rule out viral hepatits. Continue exercise and healthy dietary habits, restricted alcohol intake.
