I Am A 69 Year Old Healthy Female And Have

I am a 69 year old healthy female and have had what I'm told is viral laryngitis. It started almost a month ago as some hoarseness and mild sore throat. No fever or cough. Doctor says chest is clear and no redness of throat or enlarged lymph nodes. I do not feel ill just somewhat tired and frustrated because my voice has gone completely now for almost 4 days. I have been on total voice rest, gargling and using steam several times a day but no improvement and I can barely make a sound. I have cancelled several social and professional appts but don't see any improvement. I am taking a little cough syrup at nite to relieve a dry cough that has started at nite and Tylenol for sore throat which is mild. I understand that sometimes oral prednisone is prescribed for a few days. I have used Symbicort in the past for asthma but my doctor told me to discontinue it as it may be making it worse.
