I Am A 74 Year Old Female And Have Been

I am a 74 year old female and have been getting tightness in my throat and upper chest areas and my heart begins to beat very fast. I am on blood pressure medication and statins for my high cholesterol. My last check up showed my cholesterol was very high. I wake up in the middle of the night with this feeling (kind of like butterflies) and my heart seems to be quivering. It beats fast and then feels like it stops. I am scheduled to see a cardiologist soon but am wondering if this could be a symptom of tachycardia. Thank you.
