I Am Currently Taking One 80mg Tablet Of Simvastatin Daily

I am currently taking one 80mg tablet of simvastatin daily to lower my cholesterol level. The past couple of years I have noticed increased joint pain with my knees. I am 62 years old and have always been physically active and assumed the knee pain was related to a deteriorating joint from all the sporting activity over the years. I I was about to the point of looking into knee replacement surgery. Four days ago I missed taking this medication in the evening followed by another day of not taking this medication. I noticed the joint pain was nearly as bad in my knees and decided to not take this drug for a couple more days. So far it's been four days without taking simvastatin and the knee pain continues to be almost none existent. The only other change that has occurred in that time frame has been the beginning of the use of a Nordic Track cross country exercise machine which I am putting in about 20 minutes daily. So my question is, do you think there is a relationship to the knee joint pain related to the use of simvastatin? Thank you for any thoughts you can offer.
