I Am Nervous About Having Sex, Any Advice

I am 17 years old (almost 18) and I ve been with my boyfriend for a while. I really think I am ready to have sex, but every time I go to bring it up I start thinking about getting pregnant. I ve been on birth control for three years now and we would obviously use a condom. I still just can t get this thought out of my head. I ve decided I wanted to wait until after I turned 18 but since it s coming up I can t shove the fear of getting pregnant out of my mind. He s very patient and he loves me so I know he ll wait until I am ready and I don t feel pressured at all. Are these feelings normal? Ah any advice? Thanks!

Your nervousness is a sign of intelligence.  The fact that you are debating about this issue before acting upon it shows me that you are rational & mature.  I happen to be 31 yrs old & married.  I've been taking oral contraceptives for over 11 years, & I can tell you from experience that even I'm worried about getting pregnant.  With the nation's economic downturn, I thinks it's best to wait a little while longer before trying to conceive. (For me, anyway)

Having said this, I believe that you're on the right track in life.  Just remember... "when in doubt, do without..."  Meaning, don't have sex until you're 100% ready.  You'll know when the time is right...
