I Cannot Open My Mouth Fully Due To Chewing Tobacco
hi , my problem is , i cant open my mouth because of chewing gutkha. Plz help me. hi, i m shoukat ,& my problenm is my mouth is not open fully as normal because of chewing gutkha. Plz answer my problem.

Hi, your gutka chewing habit has landed you in trouble.You are suffering from a condition called Oral Submucous Fibrosis. It is an irreversible condition wherein the fibrous bands of the cheeks become thick and the mouth opening reduces considerably. Please stop the gutka chewing and avoid spicy food. Local injection of placental extract 2ml every week for 10 weeks may improve your symptoms.Lycopene (10%) 2000mcg is usually prescribed orally. Methylcobalmin injection (1500mcg) given intramuscularly every week. Jaw dilators exercises to be taken every day. Advanced cases of trismus or lock jaw are treated by jaw dilation under general anesthesia with incision of fibrous bands. please consult an oral surgeon to carry out all these treatment modalities. hello there...chewing tobacco would cause an irreversible condition known as Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF)....muscles underneath your cheek gets rigid and looses its elastic property... we call that fibrosis...Once the elasticity of the muscles are lost you would loose the ability to open mouth... Continuos chewing of tobacco would result in depletion of glycogen to the muscles...the muscle becomes fatigue....blood supply decreases...As this happens your muscles tend to get more fibrosed. Based upon the severity, in terms of mouth opening, the management plan differs...
If you are unable to open more than 1 finger space then you are a candidate for surgery... Get your evaluated and examined by a Oral and Maxillofacilal Surgeon...These specialists are apt in managing these conditions...Medication wont improve...Get yourself evaluated...

Oral submucous fibrosis is an irreversible fibrosis of oral muscles because of regular use of tobacco.
The area where you use to keep gutkha in your mouth,underlying muscles in that area became fibrosed and has been lost their elasticity.
Therefore you are having problem to open your mouth.
It can not be treated by medicines,the treatment of this is surgery.
But i would suggest you leave tobacco at the earliest and visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and get the thorough clinical check up don and take a proper treatment.

I suggest you to stop the gutkha chewing imediately , take the vitamin rich diet or vitamin B complex tab, consult the dentist he will give you local steroid injectables.
If it canot be corrected by medicine there are surgical intervention to , so no need to worry consult your dentist as soon as possible.

Your clinical history is suggestive of ORAL SUB MUCOUS FIBROSIS .
It is inflammatory condition of the oral mucosa caused due to chronic use of tobacco , hot and picy food habits.
It is charecterized by formtaion of fibrotic bands in the cheek and lip mucosa which may progress to other tisses , this leads to restricted mouth opening and symptoms of pain , sensitivity and burning sensation in the mouth.
i would first advise you to discontinue the habit of tobacco chewing , avoid hot and spicy foods and condiments.
start with multivitamin supplements , antioxidnts like LYCOPENE 2000MCG ,vitamin C lozenges will help in resolving the problem.
Steroid injection are found to be helpful please consult an oral surgeon and get the examination done.

As you told that you leave all habits its good you have various treatment for this if you facing this problem with strong pain than you should consult with dentist as soon as possible and if pain is not than you can overcome from this problem with some exercise
Exercise step as follow
1-Open your mouth as much you can
2- Keep your two fingers in between your teeth for 5 min.
3- Repeat this 5-10 times each day
4- After 3 to 4 days try 3-4 finger same as last step.
5- Do this exercise for 2-3 weeks

first thing you have to do is, stop gutkha chewing ! due to gutkha there is suvmucous fibrosis in mouth which cause difficulty in opening mouth.you start exercise of opening mouth,trying maximum opening mouth,keep open for some time and then relax.again do this stretching exercise,
you do this exercise, tin mint in the morning and ten mnt in the evening for long period will definitely help and you will be able to open your mouth till that extent that you will be able to eat panipuri !
some local use of gargles of some brand available,result is doubtful.in some serious trouble opening mouth,local injection of steroid is recommanded,but its help in the problen is doubtful'

If you are unable to open mouth wide, then it could be a temporomandibular joint disorder, which again has numerous causes like it could be due to any kind of arthritis, some internal joint derangement, due to hypermobility etc. The best person to judge this is a Dentist.So pl pay a visit to a Dentist soon. Your having Gutkha, is ofcourse not something appreciable but the problem per say , might be due to other reasons.
