I Got A Chest Pain When I Was In Pub

Hiya, this has been worrying me for a few weeks now and i don t really want to speak to my doctor yet so i thought i would ask your opinion, I went to the bar with my sister, i was annoyed at my partner for making me late so it was a mad rush to get to the pub before the doors closed! when i got to the pub i got an awful pain across the top of my chest above the breasts, it was really tight and felt like some-one was sitting on me and i couldn t breathe properly, this has happened to me before but only about 3 times before i had put it down to some kind of asthma attack but thinking about it is making me worried as i do have a family history of heart disease and i m supposed to get my lipids checked , my uncle died at 26 and my granda also died young both to do with heart attacks(both fathers side). I am 25 years old and a smoker, what do u think, heart problem, chest problem, wind, indegestion. thanks in advance and sorry for the long waffle (please be nice)

I don't know to be sure, but you really should see your doc about it. Although I know exactly how difficult this can be. And if you have a family history of heart disease, then you should make an effort to try to quit smoking, as that really doesn't help at all. I'm quite seriously overweight and have recently experienced chest pains too. I tend to get them when I'm stressed or worried about something. Of course, when they happen, I worry about them and that just makes them worse. Like yourself, I haven't been to the doc because I'm afraid of what he's gonna say. So instead, I've completely altered my lifestyle - almost overnight. I've cut out red meat completely. and only eat fish, chicken and turkey. I eat much smaller portions than I used to. I eat a lot more fresh fruit and veg and salads. I've cut back to 1 cup of coffee a day. I drink only water, fruit juice or V8 vegetable juice. And I've started getting some exercise. They pains have eased up a bit since I've started, and I'm hoping that as I lose weight, they'll go away completely. On the plus side, I'm saving a fortune on food shopping, and my wife says my snoring has stopped :-)

Note: For further follow-up it is advisable to consult an emergency medicine specialist. Click here.
