I Have Been Having Heart Palpitations For 3 Months, Is This Something Serious,that I Might Need To Go See A Cardiologist ?

Okay, I have been having heart palpitations for 3 months(started august 8),almost 4 now .I do not think it is anxiety because I only get these palpitations in my sleep.The weird part is that everytime I close my eyes,my heart beat starts increasing and skips a beats 2-3 times.Also,I have been off the caffine now for two months(soda,etc.).Basically,I do not know what is wrong.I went to many types of doctors,and they detected nothing.But,it has been almost 4 months;I am getting worried... Why do I only get these when I go to bed,and not daytime?I can t ever close my eyes,without my heart getting off track.This causes me to get an EXTREME lack of sleep. My main concern is that is this something serious,that I might need to go see a cardiologist ? Also,has anyone ever experienced this too?

I have had this for years and still have it on occasion. For some reason mine also occur more frequently at night. There are times when they wake me and I have to work to convert the arrhythmia and get my heart to beat normal again. Part of the problem is probably that you are nervous about the heart beat and this often results in making the heart beat faster and worsens symptoms. Lack of sleep can also aggravate this condition. You do need to see a cardiologist for an accurate diagnosis. You will probably need to be on a event monitor so they know exactly what you are experiencing. Some of these symptoms are benign but others can indicate something more serious. Call tomorrow and schedule an appointment. Sometimes the cause is nothing more than dehydration, low sodium. Sugar, caffeine, alcohol and nicotine do aggravate symptoms. Not sure if it's because I read and answered your question but guess what happened to me at 4am? Woke up with palpitaitons and lasted a good hour. I DO hate them.
