I Have Been Taking Amytriptilene For A Cpl Years, And

I have been taking amytriptilene for a cpl years, and has worked fine with little or no side effects. I have Type II diabetes, and a had/have Hep C, Was treated a number of years ago and all blood test etc, show that the interferon injections were very effective, and I did not have to continue any further treatment. Now, however, I wake up in the middle of the night and cannot return to sleep. My doctor didn't want me to Ambien because of certain properties harmful to the liver. I am taking 20 mg now, would it be effective if that dose were increased say to 30 mg?
