I Have Been Taking Methadone For Pain Control For 17

I have been taking methadone for pain control for 17 years due to an auto accident. About 4 months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 and prescribed metformin, then switched to glipizide. Since being diagnosed, I have been experiencing depression and a feeling of opiate withdrawal. Is it possible that my metabolism is processing my methadone inappropriately, and diminishing its efficacy?
