I Have Had All The Symptoms Of Shingles, Just Without

I have had all the symptoms of shingles, just without the rash. It reoccurs every few months, and is very painful. It is always in the same area, just one side of my neck and a little on the shoulder. It gets to where I can not move my neck fully and is very very sensitive. I am 50 year female in good health, and had the chicken pox when little. It started about 2 years ago and ocurrs every few months. My question is if it is zoster sine hrpete, is it contagious.
