Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 20 years old and overweight, I've had high blood pressure for 4 yrs and can't lose weight what can I do? I am 20 and have been overwieght for as long as I can remember. I have had high blood pressure since I was 16 years old and have been on a medication for the last two years which does a pretty good job at controling my blood pressure. However I ve treid everything to lose the weight... diets, exercise, weight loss pills, etc. Being a full time college student and a full time mom leaves me little time for myself and I know that theres no quick fix, but I m becoming very depressed about my weight and I know that this isn t going to help the situation. I just don;t know what to do any more I d like to lose about 70lbs and try to lower my blood pressure naturally. I just want to live a healthy life for myself and my daughter and my doctor has run out of answers even though it s like the 5th doctor I ve seen. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I M SUPPOSE TO DO!!! thanks everyone. I m about 90lbs overweight OHH yeah and i just broke my ankle and will be in a cast for about 6-8 wks. so walking is a little difficult
I can't believe that Bassplyer would tell you to stop your medication. That could kill you, please don't do that!
Start to exercise and increase your exercise little by little. If you do no exercise then start to walk to places. If you live in a flat upstairs, don't take the lift (unless you live on the 15th floor!). After a couple of weeks of increasing your walking you could get an exercise bike. That way you can exercise while revising your studies.
Many people have found weightwatchers helpful.
You need to be healthy for your daughter, to do well in your studies and for yourself. You must make your health a priority.
Good luck
