I Have Had White Patches On My Tonsils For At

I have had white patches on my tonsils for at least a week now, and I am not sick. My tonsils are actually atrophied but the patches are where they used to be. I can feel them all the time, especially when I swallow, of course. They are not painful, and are not causing swelling. Just aggravating. I do have allergies - can that be the cause? If so, what can I do to get rid of them. Thank you so much.
