I Have Recently Been Diagnosed With Barretts Esophagus But I

I have recently been diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus but I have none of the risk factors. I am a 67 year old woman who has been thin all of her life, neversmoked, drank only one glass of alcohol a day at the most and only devloped acid reflux two years ago. It literally came on over night and was constant no matter what I ate or didn't eat. I have been told to take PPIs but two 20 mg per day of Prilosec did not help. These medications have many long term side effectsand I read that there is no evidence that they prevent cancer. I am wondering if I should consider surgery.
