I Need Treatment For Cervical Erosion.

I have been told I have a cervical ectropion (or cervical erosion) and have been booked in to get the cells cauterised. When I asked the doctor whether there are any negative side effects he said no, but my friend has told me that having this treatment will put me at risk of having a premature baby when i decide to have children. Is this true? Or are there any other side effects that i should know about? Please help me as my appointment is soon and I don t know whether to have the treatment done or not now.
