Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was 3 weeks ago diagnosed with hypertension 150/95 and my doctor prescribed losartan potassium. I have been on the drug for 3 weeks and I want to withdraw from the medicine. i don't want to be on medicine for life and it is making me depressed and suicidal
In case you have high cardiovascular risk, you should take the medication lifelong. In case your cardiovascular risk is low, the other option can be lifestyle changes for 6 months. If it doesn't help, only after it medical treatment can be considered. Your cardiovascular risk should be assessed. In case it is low, I would advise you to decrease the salt intake, exercise regularly, lose weight if you are overweight. You should avoid fast food and soda.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
