I went to an ophthalmologist Monday morning at 8:30 for a routine eye exam. His technician had me read the eye chart (one eye at a time) and then changed the screens to see if one screen (1, 2 or 3) made my vision clearer. Next, he dilated both eyes to check my pressure. The pressure was good (16) in both eyes. The technician used Phenylephrine (1 drop in each eye) and Tropic amide (1 drop in each eye). My pupils were extremely dilated (the size of my iris) and because I didn't have my prescription sunglasses with me, I was given a small plastic shade that fit into my regular prescription sunglasses. I drove to another appointment (about 10 miles away) after leaving the ophthalmologist office. It was hard to see, but after that appointment, I came right home. I knew my pupils would be dilated for a couple of hours afterwards. However, they remained dilated (shrinking very little) after 24 hours. The left pupil was finally back to normal by Tuesday night. However, the right pupil is still not back to normal size and it's twice the size of my left pupil. This has never happened to me in the past, and I need to know if it is a serious concern with my right pupil.
