I Went To Urgent Care Because I Thought I Might

I went to urgent care because I thought I might have a kidney infection. The nurse practitioner said I had blood in my urine and that if my pain hadn't subsided with antibiotics within 24 hours that there is a good chance that it is a kidney stone and not an infection. She said then I should go to the ER and get a CT scan to look for a stone. It has been almost 48 hours now on antibiotics. I feel like a kidney infection should not hurt this bad. Today I carried a heavy bag and it felt like my kidney exploded for about 2 hours. The pain is continuous. Stones run in my family. Can kidney infections be extremely painful? The other thing that makes me think it might be a stone is that it doesn't hurt when I urinate at all. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you, Jenni
