In 2002 I (58 yr old female) had numerous blood clots "blasted" in my left leg (torn calf muscle, hit from behind in a ski accident) over two days. Surgeon/team put in a greenfield filter (sp?) prior to surgery & after the 2nd day of "blasting" the surgeon spoke to me to let me know he removed the filter but had to put in 2 stents because I have "extremely narrow" vessels at top of my right leg near groin. He was surprised I had not been "bothered" previously by them & advised I would probably need additional stents "added" on in about 5 years tho it was not clear how I would know! It is VERY uncomfortable to sit, especially at the end of the day. It feels achy, like a rubber band or way too tight of pants bunching at the top of my leg, so I have been wearing dresses or very baggy pants for years. The vascular surgeon was amazing but the follow up docs were totally uninterested and said they never got my records from the hospital and "doubted" I had stents even though they show in my MRIs for herniated ruptured disks in spine. Per my family doc, I personally sent another request to the hospital for my records of my 5 day stay and the hospital confirmed they sent them, but my family doc has not contacted me and I hate to bother him. It has been almost 15 years, is there a test I can request to see if I might need the additional stents the surgeon said would likely be needed? THANK YOU!
