Increased Estradiol After Robotic Total Hysterectomy, Put On Vivelle. Swollen Breast, Irritable. Why ?
I had a robotic total hysterectomy 4 weeks ago due to simple cysts on both ovaries, enlarged uterus full of fibroids and endometriosis. My estradiol level was at one point over 1000. I was a mess. Anxiety was probably my worst symptom. After surgery I went on Vivelle Dot .01, I don't feel like my post surgery hormone level is leveling off. My breasts are slightly swollen and tender, I'm still irritable, and feel wired up. Is my patch strength perhaps too much?
It is possible that your dose of 0.1 mg Vivelle Dot is too high for you. Ideally we should start hormone replacement therapy with smallest dose of 0.25 mg two times in a day, applied over skin. Gradually dosage can be increased if there are menopausal symptoms. If someone has hysterectomy done before the age of 40 years, then we may have to give them 0.1 mg dose to avoid Osteoporosis. May be you consult your Doctor again and discuss to readjust the dosage. Hope, I have answered you. Dr H Hamdani
