Increased Heart Rate. Cured After Taking Medicine. Started Feeling Pulse In Neck, Chest And Tummy. What Could Be This?

hi hope you can help me, my heart has been racing for a long time now but i have been to see my doctor and i got put on film-coated tablets, i v been on them for a week now i felt like there was working but now i m staring to feel somthing els, i dont feel like my heart is going fast any more,i just feel like i have 2 different beats......i feel the pulse in my neck and at the top of my tummy and i feel the pulse in my chest all at the same time, its like a BIG beat but at a different speed....as if i had 2 hearts,what is that? thanks :-)

I wonder if you've had EKG and 2D echocardiogram done.

Irregular heart beats are classified depending on its origin. Sometimes an ectopic beat is followed by a pause which is sensed as absent beat. They are sensed differently at different regions. The above tests are basic tests that will give us more information about the type and severity of the problem. This can be followed up with an 24 hours / week holter monitoring.

Duplicate heart is a rare entity. Locating 2 different location is a sign of this entity. Try feeling your chest. You should be able to locate a heart beat in the space between the 4th and 5th rib around the left nipple. If you find another similar beat in another locations (commonly) on the other side, it indicates a second heart. X-ray and echocardiogram will confirm it.

The bottom line is I do not feel you could be having 2 heart. Instead what you might have is rhythm disturbance (arrhythmia). The aforementioned tests will guide you.
