Increasing Level Of Creatine In Kidney, Had Undergone Transplantation. What Should Be Done? Anything To Worry?
My husbands creatinine level was 3.9 today. He has a transplanted kidney that is approx. 16 years old. His creatinine level is slowly rising. Three months ago the level was 3.8. I was tested and told I was a match. We are questioning how much damage the increasing toxins may be causing the longer we wait? Do we risk going through the surgery and pray my kidney doesn't reject or do we play it by ear and wait until a transplant is absolutely necessary? Thank you, Trish
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum . Normal creatinine level is 1.0-1.6 g/day. As kidney is already transplanted so merely don't rely upon creatinine level . Blood urea and nitrogen level is also important . Ultrasound report will further reveals damage of kidney . M R I and glomerulofilteration rate is also important . Before any decision consider one more nephrologist and there after deal accordingly. Good luck. Dr. HET
