Index Finger Swollen. Diagnosed As Herpes Whitlow. No Rash. Prescribed Acyclovir. Misdiagnosed?
Hi, I was breaking up branches in my yard when I later noticed my index finger had swollen. First thing I thought was something bit me or a branch stuck in my finger. I went to the emergency room, they took an ex-ray and said it was Herpes Whitlow. When I came home I looked it up on-line and my finger does not look like that at all. I have no rash, no blisters, no rash at all. it was just swollen and now the swelling is gone. They gave me Acyclovir 400 MG to take. My question is, if this was misdiagnosed and if all I had was just a bug bit and I take this medicine, could this medicine harm me in any way?
Hi, You was breaking branches, in the yard, your index finger swollen, your doctor diagnised as herpes whitlow, and gave acyclvir. You might be having a bacterial infection as you think, the point is there might be a simultaneous herpes infection. there is no harm if it is taken also. Thank you.
