Infection After Breast Augmentation While On Bactrim. Implants To Be Replaced. Prescribed Keflex, Emergen-c. Safe?
After breast Aug. I got an infection while on bactrim post op... I had one implant removed and when it was replaced it got reinfected while on bactrim post op again. Both implants were removed. It has been 4 months and i will be having new implants replaced in a week. The doctor has rx'd keflex to take post op this time. Is this wise? Also, is it safe for me to take emergen-c for immune support so close to my surgery date?
Hi and thanks for the query, I do not think its of any use taking emergen - c. It would not really help much. Your surgeon needs simply to be more careful, apply strictly appropriate sterilization techniques and maybe prescribe appropriate broad spectrum antibiotics after the procedure to avoid infection. Any pain, fever or swelling after procedure should prompt a quick consultation with your treating physician. Kind regards
