Hello Doctor, my name is AAAAAA, and I have been injured by a stem in my right ankle on 19 July 2011. It has developed into a non- healing ulcer . My Dermatologist prescribed the use of Fucibet and Fucidin. As yet there is no chance of any recovery. It pains unbearibly and it stings too. Please advice what should I do ?
9 months old non-healing ulcer in Right ankle following trauma :
1. Are you suffering from Diabetis Mellitus or Varicose Veins or Chronic swelling / lymphedema/ filariasis in your leg or DVT? Are you a chronic smoker or alcoholic? : All these factors affect wound healing,
2. May be the ulcer needs debridement with regular aseptic dressings,
3. Crepe bandage application around your foot and ankle with elevation over 1-2 pillow till the ulcer heals,
4. If the ulcer has not extended to your bones, there is fair chance that it will heal. If it doesnt heals then may be u need a plastic surgery procedure with split skin grafting or flap depending upon the site of ulcer.
