Injury Below The Eye, Swelling Around Cheeks And Nose, Vomiting, Headache. Concussion Symptoms?

my grandson who is 13 got hit with a thrown baseball under the eye, by the nose , and on the cheek area. He is swollen on his right cheek and under the eye and aroud nose. His right eye is almost closed shut from the swelling. He started vomiting last night and has a terrible headache today.. Could he have a concussion even though it didn t hit him in the head or could there be another injury.

Hello and welcome to Health Care Magic,

The injury that your grandson sustained is not direct hit to the head.
However, injury to the face can also be dangerius and cause indirect concussion or other injuries to delicate structures of the cranium.

I suggest you not waste any more time and rush to the local hospital.
A CT head is urgently required to rule out any head injury.
Head ache and vomiting can be due to sub arachanoid bleed.

I hope my answer is of help to you.
Thanks and take care
