Intermittent Pain On Lateral Sides Of Abdomen, Reduced Rate Of Urine. Blocked Uterus?

Hi I wonder if my ureter(s) are blocked or strained? I am in my 21st week of pregnancy and have had intermittent pain on lateral sides of abdomen above pelvis , especially when sneezing or trying to stand up after lying prostrate. I have no swelling, edema , or fever. Have had varying pain as mentioned and significantly slowed rate of urine flow from early on in pregnancy. Nothing detected at 20 week ultrasound. Thank you.

hi there, the slow rate of urine flow could be due to the bladder getting compressed by the growing uterus.Any pressure on the bladder or on the ureter can also lead to the pain that you have been experiencing. It would be advisable to get an ultrasound done to rule out any residual urine in the bladder post voiding and also to rule out any back pressure hydronephrosis which could be quite dangerous in later pregnancy.You could speak with your attending obstetriatian and get it ruled out. Take care.
