Irritation After Urination, Itching, Redness In Meatus. Chlamydia Or UTI?

Hello...I m male, gay, age 26. I ve been sexually active lately (oral only). I ve had slight irritation after I urinate. It started as a minor sting (not very painful...just an odd sensation) and it s mildly progressed into a slight itch after a few days, and my meatus has a slight red hue. I have no other symptoms.....but I m wondering if I should be concerned about chlamydia , or if this is likely a UTI?

Hi there. From your symptoms, it appears you have a mild UTI. This can have been due to a frictional issue not necessarily an STD. Having said that chlamydial infections do often give rise to UTI. However, this is not as common with oral sex as with other forms. Still, it is best you consult with a dermatologist or STD specialist nearest you on the ground & do the relevant urine/lab tests the good doctor would advice. Accordingly, you will have to take the relevant antibiotics et al. In the interim, you may try to consume lots of water/liquids to flush out the infection together with a urinary alkaliniser that any pharmacist may suggest over the counter & may be taken as an effervescent powder in a glass of water.
