Irritation In Throat With Difficulty In Swallowing With A Red Bump In Throat. What Could This Be?
I am a 16 year old female, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 120 pounds. Today I noticed an irritation near the back of my throat, upon further inspection, there seems to be an extremely red bump with a white head on the right side of my soft palate at the very back on the flap of flesh that comes just before my throat. I'm a little concerned because it is painful and is interfering with eating and drinking. Do you have any idea of what it could be and if it is dangerous?
Such red bump with white head is caused by bacterial infection of the throat. This condition is called quinsy. Extreme pain while swallowing and nausea are very characteristic for this disease. It is necessary to treat if with antibiotic, otherwise it can cause some complications. That is why you should not wait any longer and visit your doctor. Amoxiciline should be prescribed.
Hope this will help. Regards.
