Is AS Probable In A Patient With A Negative Test For HLA-B2?
Hello sir,2days back I went to rheumatologist doctor ..he confirmed that I have ankylosis spodilytis,he had seen mri&ct scan,he suggested me for some blood tests esr, cpp, sgpt, creatine all are normal now he is planning for hlab27...but it is negative now can u tell me what is my exact problem
It is suggestive of seronegative spondyloarthropathies. Ankylosing spondylitis is strongly associated with the HLA-B27 gene and it is positive in over 90% of patients. A negative test could be found in approximately 10% is suggestive of seronegative spondyloarthropathies.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
