Is Achromobacter Xylosoxidans Infection Contagious?

My dad had an infection in his ankle bone. A bone biopsy identified it as a Achromobacter xylosoxidans, multiple drug resistant bacteria.

1) Does that mean antibiotics will not work? He's currently getting two through IV (5 x a day).

2) Is this contagious?

Hi...Thanks for considering Ask a doctor service...
I have gone through your question and understand your worries...

1.No need to panic correct antibiotics will cure the disease, It doesn't mean all antibiotic will not work in that particular infection...

2.If the course of Antibiotics is finished fully, spreading of the infection will be reduced

Hope your doubts are cleared

Take care...
