Is Aleve Advisable For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. My Dr. prescibed diclofenac sodium 75mg. I started taking Aleve an over the counter non steroidal medication recently along with my prescribed meds. I am getting a lot of relief with this combination of meds. Is it dangerous to take them together and would it be wise to detox my liver once a month.

hello, it is advised to mention your age and gender when you are asking the question so that we can help you more efficiently.First of all for how long are you taking this treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and when was it diagnosed? What medicines are you on?You doctor has prescribed you diclofenac sodium 75mg that is noted but what other drugs are you taking kindly mention all.
Never take any medicine without consulting your doctor as you are already taking so many.Aleve is used in RA also but there are many things to be kept in mind before you are advised this,it can be risky if you take it without consulting your doctor as you might be taking already the same medicine given by your doctor but unaware of the fact that will lead to toxicity.
Aleve is a class of medicine NSAIDS which has many side effects and there are risk factors present especially if you are a heart patient( high blood pressure/history of heart problems) then it is not advised to take this medicine. If It is taken without precautions or proper advises, it can lead to heart problems(like a heart attack) or stroke, even if you are not a heart patient. There are other risks like gastrointestinal bleeding which can be fatal. Most importantly this interacts with some medicines which you might be taking already (like methotrexate, aspirin)as per your doctor's advice. The interaction might bring unwanted effects on the body.So I suggest you to stop taking it even if you are getting relief after taking it.Consult your doctor, if he or she advises you to continue it or replaces it with the previous one then it would be alright to take.
For RA there are other things like exercising and physiotherapy that help to improve the condition.Physical activity is very helpful in RA.
About liver detox, there are many ways you can do it naturally by eating healthy food and modifying diet habits.Which should be followed as per your doctor's or dietician's advises you.So that you can achieve good results and lead a healthy life.If you have any further queries feel free to ask and stay healthy.
