Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Alkaline Phosphatase Value Of 193 A Cause For Concern?
My 90 yr old father is sleeping all day. This started 3 weeks ago and is getting worse. His cognitive abilities are diminished as well. He has a history of congestive heart failure & A-fib. On 6/30 he had blood work done and his Alkaline Phosphatase was 193. Do I need to consider this urgent and get him to the ER or can I wait for his appointment on Wednesday with our primary care physician?
ALP value of 193 is not a sign of significant health problem and does not require any emergency intervention. If there is an underlying bone on liver diseases the values will be above 500. You can repeat the test after two weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
