Is Alkaline Phosphate Value Of 2589 A Cause For Concern?
Hello, my Granddaughter had some blood work, and her Alkaline Phosphate is 2589. She got her shots around the end of April. She won t put any weight on her leg, or when crawling uses just her right leg to push herself, around. She was born October 6th of 2014. What would cause her to have such a high level in her system, as normal is between 130 - 560. Thanks Carma Doan
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I appreciate your concern for your grand daughter's raised Alkaline phosphatase.
Alkaline phosphatase is a protein found in all body tissues that include the liver, bile ducts, and bone.
High Alkaline phosphatase usually means that either the liver has been damaged or a condition causing increased bone cell activity is present.
In view of her inability to put her weight on her leg or difficulty in crawling the following bone conditions could have been responsible for her abnormally raised alkaline phosphatase:
She needs to be evaluated further to rule out the above conditions like the blood tests (serum calcium, phosphate, etc), x rays of the affected bones, urine analysis, etc.
Hope to have answered your query.
