Is Althea Pill Effective When Combined With Nordette ?

Hello doctor, I'm an 18-year old girl and sexually active. I've been using althea pills since last year but then i stopped for one month just last september. now, i have been using it again on october, We had sex after i took 2 pills of althea, so i was worried and took nordette within 120 hours just to be sure that no conception occurs. my question is that can althea pill be as effective when i combine it with nordette?, because I am really in trouble, if it doesnt work.

Hi

Taking both the drugs does not reduce the effectiveness of the drug.

But since both contain Ethinyl Estradiol which is becomes a high dose hormonal pill.Higher dose can cause side effects.

Hence avoid taking two different oral contraceptives at the same time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
