Is Amitriptyline Safe During Pregnancy?

Hello I've been taking amitriptyline 50mg for the past 4 years. I'm now 39 weeks pregnant and have taken it through the whole pregnancy. I was told not to take it now till baby is born but read that it's not safe to stop taking it. I take it for anxiety. I haven't taken it for 2 nights now and have had trouble sleeping. Should I take it or not?

Hello,

Take it if not taking is affecting you, but in another aspect, it's not good to take in pregnancy but now continue taking it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mandavi Rai
